To the distant Oze.
Oze National Park is one of Japan's leading water sources, spanning across Niigata and four other prefectures. The "Uonuma Oze Route" from Niigata leads to the remote Tadami Lake where "Oze jujo" is located, also following the source of the Tadami River.
While enjoying a boat tour of Tadami Lake (also known as Ginzan Lake), beloved by the author Ken Kaiko, and transferring onto buses traversing primeval forests, please savor the beauty of the distant Oze.

Access
The road to Oze Jujo, “Okutadami Silver Line”.
It takes about 40 minutes by car from the central part of Koide in Uonuma City, via the Okutadami Silver Line. After passing through a 22-km long tunnel, the pristine nature awaits. The area has such heavy snowfall that it is closed during the winter. You may enjoy the view of the beautiful snow-covered mountains and fresh greenery peeking through the snow-shed between the tunnel. Inside the tunnel, there is a sign to turn right saying “Ginzan-daira (銀山平)”. Please be careful not to miss the sign otherwise you will end up at Okutadami Dam. If you take public transportation, take Joetsu Shinkansen to “JR Urasa Station”. Our shuttle service is available once a day from the station. It takes about 50 minutes from the station to Oze Jujo. There are no stores around Oze Jujo. If you need anything, please make sure to buy them beforehand.

Enjoy Rural Cuisine of Wild Vegetable at “Irori Jinen”
Going down the Okutadami Silver Line toward Koide, take left at the end of the road and you will find a restaurant called “Irori Jinen (いろりじねん)”. This is an old folk house restaurant, which starts their business in spring but closes in winter. Guests can enjoy local cuisine using plenty of regional vegetables. They only served 15 servings a day, therefore, reservations are required. Their Udon and soba noodles are great, but what we recommend the most is their “Omakase set meal”. Omakase means "I leave it up to you". You can enjoy rare ingredients unique to Yunotani Village where the restaurant is located. Why don’t you have lunch there after check-out?
